Inside Our Current Issue

Welcome to our Back to School issue! It's that wonderful time of the year when schedules are set and little (and not-so-little) ones head back to class. Making school lunches can be a chore, but it is a welcome one for many knitters: it frees up a few hours for us to pick up our needles.

We've included several gorgeous accessories to help you ease into the cooler season. I love the Boot Warmers, which I've added to my knitting to-do list. The Stadium Seat Cover was born out of my seemingly constant bleacher-sitting during school sports events—it's a remarkable comfort factor!

Sadly, Knit 1-2-3 lost a wonderful designer this winter. Marilyn Losee's projects have been included in every issue since inception, and we are honored and blessed to have been able to feature her timeless, wonderful designs. Marilyn's last design, Super-Chunk Afghan was received just weeks before her death. We thank you, Marilyn, for your beautiful, talented work.

For me, early autumn is a truly delightful time of year. I hope that you find the time to make several of the fantastic projects in these pages. I leave you with the McAlindin crew on their first day of the 2013–2014 school year.
